As a wedding photographer, I have the incredible privilege of capturing one of the most important days in a couple's life. Lisa and Chris’s wedding on August 24th, 2024, was no exception. From the emotional ceremony at Holy Trinity Church in Knaphill to the stunning celebration at Gorse Hill, Surrey, every moment was filled with joy, love, and a bit of magic.
Here’s a glimpse into the day, from bridal prep to the final golden hour shots that perfectly wrapped up the evening.
Bridal Prep: The Calm Before the Storm
I arrived early at Lisa's home to capture the start of the day. The atmosphere was relaxed yet full of excitement. Lisa's hair and makeup was expertly done by the incredible Suzanne Dusek, whose artistry transformed Lisa into the radiant bride she was meant to be. Suzanne’s work is always flawless, and she brought out Lisa’s natural beauty with soft waves and glowing makeup that perfectly complemented her bridal style.
Lisa’s wedding dress was a showstopper, designed by Love Spell Design. The delicate lace, timeless silhouette, and elegant details were truly stunning. As Lisa slipped into the gown, there was a palpable sense of excitement. With her bridesmaid helping her with the final touches, the morning felt like a dream.
Lily Flowers created the most beautiful florals for the day—soft, romantic, using hydrangeas & jasmines's (named after their daughter) that reflected the couple’s personalities. The floral arrangements were nothing short of perfection, adding a personal and intimate touch to every part of the day.
Groom Prep: Chris’s Quiet Confidence
Meanwhile, over at the groom’s preparations, Chris was equally excited but a little more relaxed. Surrounded by his closest friends and family, he was all smiles as he prepped for the big day. A few nervous jitters were quickly eased with a round of laughs and some final wardrobe adjustments. Chris, looking sharp in his tailored suit, was ready to marry the love of his life.
I couldn’t help but notice the love and support from his groomsmen as they shared stories and moments of camaraderie. There’s something so special about seeing the groom surrounded by the people who mean the most to him. It set the tone for the kind of day this would be—full of love, friendship, and genuine happiness.
The Ceremony at Holy Trinity Church, Knaphill: A Moment to Remember
The ceremony took place at Holy Trinity Church in Knaphill, a beautiful venue that was perfect for Lisa and Chris’s vows. As guests arrived, the sky was already showing signs of impending rain. And sure enough, just before the ceremony began, the torrential downpour hit. The heavens opened, but nothing could dampen the spirits of Lisa and Chris, who were about to take this huge step in their lives.
There’s always something uniquely dramatic about a wedding in the rain—it brings an extra layer of emotion, and this ceremony was no exception. As Lisa walked down the aisle with her father, the atmosphere in the church was filled with anticipation. Chris’s reaction when he first laid eyes on Lisa was incredibly moving. His face lit up, and tears welled in his eyes as he saw his beautiful bride, walking toward him. It was one of those moments that makes you realize how deep their connection is. The raw emotion in his eyes was a beautiful reminder of the love they share.
Despite the rain pouring down outside, there was a beauty and intimacy in the moment that was undeniable. Lisa and Chris exchanged their vows in front of family and friends, pledging to spend their lives together. It was a truly heartfelt ceremony, made even more special by their emotional connection.
The Reception at Gorse Hill: Sunshine After the Storm
As if on cue, the weather began to clear up as the afternoon unfolded. By the time the guests arrived at Gorse Hill for the reception, the sun had come out in full force, creating the most perfect backdrop for cocktails, laughter, and celebration. The venue looked absolutely stunning, with its manicured gardens and rolling countryside—everything a wedding photographer dreams of.
The reception was brought to life by the incredible Jack Mason, whose music set the perfect atmosphere for the evening. Guests danced and celebrated, enjoying the magical vibe that only live music can create.
When it came to the party later in the evening, Club Kudo took over as the band and DJ, keeping the energy high and the dance floor packed all night long. Their seamless mix of tunes had everyone on their feet, making for a memorable celebration that no one would forget.
After the formalities, we took the opportunity for some beautiful couple portraits during golden hour. The light was absolutely perfect, and Lisa and Chris looked incredible. These moments of quiet, intimate connection between them were some of my favorite photos of the day. The golden glow seemed to mirror the warmth and love between them.
Couple Portrait time!
Capturing the Love
The rest of the evening was a blur of dancing, speeches, and so much laughter. The newlyweds were surrounded by family and friends who shared in the joy of their day.
What a day it was! Despite the rain that briefly threatened to make an appearance, Lisa and Chris had the wedding of their dreams. Their love, the support of their family and friends, and the stunning surroundings made it truly unforgettable.
It was such an honor to be part of this journey and to witness the start of their new chapter together. Here’s to Lisa and Chris—may your future be as beautiful as your wedding day.
